Holy matrimony
Wedding is a momentous stage in christians life. The mystery of Holy matrimony is one of the seven sacraments of the church. A Christian wedding is performed in a church by means of which the grace of the Holy Spirit is obtained. Holy Matrimony is based on the Bible. (Gen. 1:27,28, 2:18, Mt. 19:4-6). The Canon of the Church requires that before matrimony, there are some conditions which must be met. Couples must be educated of these conditions by their priest and meet all conditions. Couples and or parents of couples who are planning to have Holy matrimony at our church
  • Step 1- arrange the day of Holy matrimony with the administrator of the church Abba Gebrewahid Gebrekisrtos
  • Step 2 - Complete the Holy matrimony intake form.
  • Step 3 - Contribute Holy matrimony offering.
  • Step 4 - collect Holy matrimony certificate from the Parish council office.
Baptism
Baptism is one of the most important events for TOTC Christians. According to the canon of the church boys are baptized at 40 days and girls at 80 days. This is to symbolize the entrance of Adam to the Garden of Eden in 40 days after he was created. Eve entered the Garden of Eden 40 days after Adam (80 days total). Baptism has biblical roots and meaning. John 3: “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” When parents are planning to baptize their child, they should follow the following steps
  • Step 1- arrange the day of baptism with the administrator of the church Abba Gebrewahid Gebrekisrtos
  • Step 2 - Complete the baptismal intake form.
  • Step 3 - Contribute baptismal offering.
  • Step 4 - collect baptismal certificate from the Parish council office.
Sunday School
The Felege Hiwet Sunday School of MHMA church has been educating children about the Gospel and religious education for decades. With some restructuring and enhancement, the school intends to improve the current courses. A comprehensive curriculum is under development. The new structure will have two main semesters: fall and Spring and one additional semester: summer. Fall and Spring will be the main semesters for religious education. The summer semester will be for language studies, summer camp of culture and heritage, adventures, and make up time for students who missed religious education the fall and/or spring semester/s. The fall and spring semesters will be 17 weeks long and synchronized with the school calendar The summer semester will be between 10- 14 weeks depending on the end and beginning of the academic years and other Tigrayan summer events. For convenience, Sunday school students will be grouped into three levels: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Students grouped into the Beginners level are elementary students from grade 1 (age 7 or 8) to Grade 5. Students grouped into the Intermediate and Advanced levels will be middle school and high school students, respectively. ​During the fall and spring semesters the focus will be to systematically distribute lessons from the 6 chapters identified in the master Sunday school resource. These chapters are
  • Religious Education,
  • Bible study,
  • The practices/order of church,
  • The history of the church,
  • The glory of the saints, and
  • Christianity.
Trainer's training and Bible camp
A higher level Bible and other religious education will be given to Sunday School Instructors, Deacons, Parish Council members and Parishioners who assist with Sunday School.
College Students and Professional Tigrayan Youth
A concise religious education will be designed for college students and graduated Tigrayan youth. A special effort will be made to bring our children back to their home church. Not only will they come and learn their religion and culture but also, they will be great assets and mentors to their fellow Tigrayan kids.
Religious education for adults
Religious education for adults will be organized on this website. Other forms such as leaflets, brochures, and magazines will also be used to reach out to those who do not have access to online resources.
